Eastbourne “LifeStyle Europe” Eagles – Peterborough “Readypower” Panthers
56      Vs.      37

Monday 5th July 2010 – 7.30 PM – Elite League ‘B’

The Eastbourne “Lifestyle Europe” Eagles started their climb up the Elite League table in their quest to get to the end-of-season play-offs, with another 50 point score against the high-flying Peterborough Panthers, in front of the Sky Cameras this evening. They leap-frogged over both Ipswich and Coventry and up to the heady heights of seventh in the table, a position that they seem not to have been in since about late May.

The Ealges’ new riding order seemed to pay dividends against the Panthers, who struggled to get to grips with the Arlington circuit in the early races, and the six riders of Eastbourne only suffered two last places, against the visiting seven riders thirteen.

Three Eagles’ riders scored double figures, with guest Adam Shields bagging another 12 points in the number 1 race jacket, and the new reserve pairing of Simon Gustafsson and Lukas Dryml scored 11+4, and 12 points respectively.
Captain Joonas Kylmakorpi took up the “Bonus King” mantle for injured Captain Woodward, scoring a bonus point in each of his five rides, ending the evening with a paid 13 point haul from his 5 rides.
New signing Tomasz Jedrzejak had a good debut for the Eagles’ and included his first win and a paid win in his debut score of 7 + 1, and could have had an extra point as he led Panthers Captain Niels-Kristian Iversen for 3 and a half laps in heat 14.

For the Panthers, manager Trevor Swales threw the tactical dice very early in the meeting, after his team were down by 18 to 6 after 4 heats. Grand-Prix man Bjerre stemmed the tide in heat 5 with a double-points tactical win. Manager Swales then tried it again in heat 7 after going 13 points down, and Schlein couldn’t manage to dent the Eagles’ scoring prowess, as he ended up last on the end of another 5 – 1.

The Panthers staged a mini-fightback towards the end of the meeting with 5 of the last seven heat winners, and after looking like they might concede 60 points, ended up only going down by 19 points overall.

The Eagles’ scored six 5 – 1’s in the meeting and only had two heats were the Panthers gained advantages.

The new Eastbourne reserve pairing scored a combined 19 points, against the Panthers 2. Overall a very encouriging performance for the 6-man Eagles, with the season now not being written off completely, after two fifty-plus points scores on the bounce! Here’s hoping the new found team confidence can be carried forward to Thursday.

The next test for the new Eastbourne lineup is a match at Blunsdon on Thursday night against the Swindon Robins, where an away win is an absolute necessity if they are to mount a serious charge into the play-off berths for 2010. Will Zagar be wearing the No.1 race jacket at his former home track? We shall see come Thursday, but the rumours circulating suggest he will receive a 28 day ban for witholding his services, after riding in two meetings sandwiched between the last two Eagles’ fixtures, and being “ill” and not being able to travel back to England.

Eagles’ and Bees’ Select VII’s in action at Arlington tonight!!

Posted @ 12.10 – 01/07/10 – by Barry – Webmaster

Eastbourne “LifeStyle Europe” Eagles Vs. Coventry “Buildbase” Bees
Vs.
Thursday 1st July 2010 – 7.30 PM – Elite League ‘B’

With it being all change at Arlington this evening, with no Matej Zagar, and no Cameron Woodward, still under doctor’s orders not to ride, for the Eagles’ and maybe 3 Bees riders missing as well, tonight’s Elite League match now appears very winable for the Eagles’ in their efforts to stave off an Elite League relegation play-off at the end of the season.

No.1 Zagar has apparently reported in “sick” to the Eagle’s management, and they have wasted little time in obtaining the services of a former Arlington favourite, Lakeside Hammer, Adam Shields to take the place of the Slovenian tonight.

With new signing Tomasz Jedrzejak unable to make his Eagle’s debut until Monday’s Sky televised clash against the Peterborough Panthers, Eagles’ No. 8 Chris Schramm takes the place of the injured Dawid Lampart, with Lukas Dryml’s anticipated switch to reserve now also not happening till Monday.

With Lewis Bridger making his first return to Arlington, after last month’s transfer fiasco, some interesting action should be on the cards!

With the summer temperatures now kicking in, the action on the track at Arlington should be white-hot this evening, despite all the anticipated team changes!!

Team Lineup’s.
Well the only thing that I can really be sure about tonight’s meeting is the team managers. :-)
Eastbourne now have Dean Barker assisting Trevor Geer in the pits. And Coventry of course, have one of Eastbourne’s favourite speedway characters on the opposite side of the pits, Alun Rossiter.

But, I’m having a stab at who should be turning up this evening, and the teams could line-up as follows:-
EASTBOURNE: Adam Shields, Lukas Dryml, Ricky Kling, Cameron Woodward – R/R, Joonas Kylmakorpi, Simon Gustafsson, Chris Schramm.
BUILDBASE BEES: Davey Watt, Ben Barker, Lewis Bridger, Edward Kennett, Chris Harris (or R/R), Richard Sweetman, Stuart Robson.

The Wolves pack head into town this evening!

Eastbourne “LifeStyle Europe” Eagles Vs. Wolverhampton “Parry’s International” Wolves
Vs.
Thursday 17th June 2010 – 7.30 PM – Elite League ‘B’

Those favourite bad boys from the Black Country head to Arlington tonight, to what promises to be an exciting Elite League clash this evening.

The Wolverhampton Wolves, a team that always go well round Arlington, come to town tonight to try and keep their place in the Elite League Play-Off postitions. With two wins at Arlington last season, the Eagles will be hoping to stop them in their tracks, and start their own march up the league table.

Spearheaded by “Super Swede” Freddie Lindgren, who is currently heading the Elite League Averages, and first-year Grand-Prix rider, Brit. Tai Woffinden, the Wolves have strength in depth as well, with British Under 21 Champion, Joe Haines, at reserve, as well as the younger Lindgren, Ludvig. The rest of the team features favourite Eagles guest, Dane Nicolai Klindt, Aussie Ty Proctor, and just recently returned to the side, Polish entertainer, Adam Skornicki. “Donut Man” Skornicki scored a five ride paid maximum in his return to British Speedway, at the end of May, in his first match back at Monmore Green in the ‘B’ fixture against the Eagles. A newly fit Skornicki came back into the team, to replace the struggling Joe Screen.

With the Eagles’ first home Thursday night League match last week, falling victim to a very early call-off, with the rain clouds threatening all around Arlington, the Eagles’ riders will be hoping to get a morale-boosting victory after nearly two weeks out of Elite League action.

Several of the Eagles’ riders have been in action around Europe in the past week, with Matej Zagar finishing runner-up to Chris Harris, after a run-off, in the World Championship Qualifier in Croatia. Lukas Dryml came third with 11 points in the World Championship Qualifier in Hungary. Dawid Lampart scored nearly all of his Pairs team points in the Polish Youth best pairs final, with 16 points from 6 rides, and Joonas Kylmakorpi won his first-ever Long Track World Championship round on Sunday in France. Kylmakorpi leads the series after two rounds. Lukas also banged in the points yesterday in a Czech league match at Pardbuice, scoring 16 + 1 from his six rides.

With the Eagle’s management juggling the riding order, with Lukas going to 2, and Simon to 3, they will be hoping the new pairings can click straight away and start scroing those heat advantages, in what would be a very impressive victory this evening!

With the weather looking very good for tonight’s contest, no rain clouds around at all at 12 O’clock :-) , a close exciting match is on the cards, as it always is against those Wolverhampton Wolves!!

Poole match Postponed!!

Eastbourne “LifeStyle Europe” Eagles Vs. Poole “Castle Cover” Pirates
Vs.
Thursday 10th June 2010 – 7.30 PM – Elite League ‘B’

Tonight’s meeting at Arlington was postponed at around 3.30 PM this afternoon, after a heavy shower in the local area, and with a forecast of heavy rain for this evening, the management decided to call the meeting off early.

No new date has been announced yet for the restaging of this meeting.

Biggest home challenge of the season to come tonight!

Eastbourne “LifeStyle Europe” Eagles Vs. Poole “Castle Cover” Pirates
Vs.
Thursday 10th June 2010 – 7.30 PM – Elite League ‘B’

The Poole Pirates, heading the Elite League by some considerable distance at the moment, visit Arlington for the first time this season, tonight.

The Eagle’s, after making a winning Thursday evening debut last week against the Swindon Robins, face a tougher challenge against their rivals from Dorset this evening.

With all the aggravation from last weeks transfer saga dying down, the Eagles management will be hoping that the slight rearrangement in the team line-up will make a difference tonight, and that they are able to start getting the heat advantages from the first race of the night, rather than trying to get back into the match from heat 7!

The Pirates will be arriving at Arlington this evening one man down, after Polish star Artur Mroczka sustained a badly sprained ankle last night in the Elite League victory over the Ipswich Witches, their 800th home league victory of all time. The Pirates will be using the “rider-replacement” facility for Mroczka. The Witches ran them close last night, becoming the first away team to score above 39 points at Wimborne Road this season.
Another stat to have emerged from the Poole historians, is that if the Eagles’ can inflict the Pirates fourth League defeat this evening, this will be the Pirates 700th League defeat of all time, which would be a great scalp for the Eagles’, in what has been a very up and down season so far!

The only doubt now, for what should be a good crowd for this local derby, is the still current threat of rain this evening.

Here’s hoping for an exciting match to really kick-start the Eagle’s 2010 season :-)

Can the Eagles’ win two on the bounce!! :-)

Posted @ 17.40 – 4/06/10 – by Barry – Webmaster

Lakeside Hammers Vs. Eastbourne “LifeStyle Europe” Eagles
Vs.
Friday 4th June 2010 – 7.45 PM – Elite League ‘B’

After last night’s narrow and very controversial win over the Swindon Robins, 47 – 43, where Co-Promoter Bob Dugard and team manager, Trevor Geer had a run-in with referee Paul Carrington, after an exclusion for Dawid Lampart in heat 11, with the match score finally balanced at 34 – 32. The Eagle’s then had 4 of the last 5 heat winners to secure a much-needed win 47 – 43 to secure two league points, with Swindon getting just 1, after the Robins had lead by 8 points after heat 5.

So, the Eagles go on the road, and up and over the Queen Elizabeth Bridge tonight to Purfleet to take on the Lakeside Hammers, trying to secure two victories on the trot for the first time this season, and get one of those very rare away victories as well!

With the Eagles featuring two ex-Hammers, in Joonas Klymakorpi and Ricky Kling, hopes are slighty higher of an improved away performance at least, after three heavyish defeats in their last three away meetings.
The Hammers home form is very good, with just one loss to Ipswich in their seven Elite League matches this season. With Lee Richardson returning to the Hammers last month, the Hammers have appeared to gain confidence in their quest to maintain second spot behind the all-conquering Poole Pirates. And former Eagle, Paul Hurry, is expected to return to the team tonight after breaking his finger last month, that kept him out of Floppy’s Farewell meeting at Arlington.

The Eagle’s are completely unchanged from last night’s victory. The Hammers had a heavy defeat at Peterborough last night, 56 -39.

With the weather set very-fair for this evening’s contest, unlike the ‘A’ fixture on Good Friday morning, that was a victim to heavy rain that fell, causing the meeting to be abandoned after just two heats, everybody is hoping that the Friday evening rush hour traffic, will not keep the riders from arriving at Purfleet for tonight’s local derby!!

The team’s line-up as follows:-

Lakeside Hammers

Eastbourne "LifeStyle Europe" Eagles

1. Lee Richardson1. Matej Zagar
2. Kauko Nieminen2. Simon Gustafsson
3. Daniel Davidsson3. Lukas Dryml

Eagles’ hope to return to Winning Ways!

Eastbourne “LifeStyle Europe” Eagles Vs. Swindon Robins

Vs.
Thursday 3rd June 2010 – 7.30 PM – Elite League ‘B’

After an absence of just over a month, Elite League racing returns to Arlington this evening. The first Thursday night league match of 2010, against another Thursday night club, the Swindon Robins.

The last home league match was a resounding victory over the Belle Vue Aces, 55 – 41. Since then, the Eagles have been on the road 4 times, and lost all 4. 1 very narrowly, 1 by 13 points, and 2 absolute trouncings!

And, with the last 7 days of the “Will he, Won’t he” saga featuring Lewis Bridger and various team changes, the team is still the original 1 to 7 that started the 2010 Elite League season three months ago.

With the bitter taste of disappointment still in the mouths of very many Eagle’s fans, over the various defeats and Bridger transfer “debacle”, this is possibly not a good time for the switch to Thursday evening racing. And, the crowd figure will surely cause some constination amongst the ranks of the Eagle’s Management, as the fans have been calling for positive action to strenghten the team to make one last challenge for the 2010 Play-Offs. With many fans expressing their discontent over the situation on various Eastbourne Eagles websites throughout the World Wide Web, including boycotting this match until team-changes are made, the future for the Eagles and racing in the Elite League is looking very uncertain at the moment.

Here’s hoping for a morale-boosting home victory tonight!!

This is how the teams line-up:-

Eastbourne "LifeStyle Europe" EaglesSwindon Robins
1. Matej Zagar1. Leigh Adams (Captain)
2. Simon Gustafsson2. Morten Risager
3. Lukas Dryml3. Mads Korneliussen

5. Joonas Kylmakorpi5. Simon Stead
6. Ricky Kling6. Cory Gathercole
7. Dawid Lampart7. Thomas H. Jonasson
